WE ALSO HAVE 3 BOOK FAIRS EACH YEAR...so I'll have to fit those in.
I'LL BE POSTING A MONTHLY LIST OF READ A-LOUDS FOR EACH MONTH AND TOPIC NEXT WEEK and more to come!
This is a basic and (flexible) curriculum map for grades K-6. Extensions on the subjects above, learning THE BIG 6, an understanding of the school's on-line library catalog, as well as a simple research project will be done in grades 3-6 toward the end of the year.
I only have the students for 30 minutes each week, so all subjects will be covered very briefly, as my goal is to get children TO READ, not to teach them ABOUT reading. I also want to read a picture book to the younger grades each week, another reason to keep subjects above short and fun.
These topics could be used by anyone, including teachers, homeschool(ing) parents/teachers, and librarians.

THURSDAY'S STORYTIME THEMES: THE OCEAN
We loaded up 3 cars of kids and grandkids and headed to the beach this week, Newport Beach, to be exact. It's a great time to gather up some picture books and have them on hand for teaching about the ocean!!! Here are a few favorites.
