SATURDAY'S SERIES: "Skeleton Creek" by Patrick Carmen (boys will love these)

Today I wanted to highlight the 4 books in the series "Skeleton Creek" by Patrick Carmen grade 3 and up, age 9 and up, 2007

The books are #1 "Skeleton Creek Ryan's Journal", #2 "Ghost in the Machine", #3 "The Cross Bones" and #4 "The Raven".

Things in the small town of Skeleton Creek are not as they seem and Sarah and Ryan, who are good friends, want to get to the bottom of it.  I read this set of books to Sam (aged 12), last year and he loved them.  He was always asking me to read them with him.  They held my interest as well.  The coolest part of these books is that there are videos on "you-tube" that you watch about every 2 chapters, because Sarah  is into cinematography. You are given a special secret code, a password, that enables you to look at the movies.

Sarah sneaks  out in the night looking for clues, because Ryan is stuck at home with a broken leg, which occured in the first book as they are searching for clues.

The books are a little spooky for kids much younger that 8, so I suggest ages 9 and up.  The books keep you guessing and wanting more!  Sam had a hard time waiting for the 4th book, The Raven,  to come out!  :)

BOOK REVIEW:  "Strange things are happening in Skeleton Creek and Ryan and Sarah are trying to get to the heart of it. But
after an eerie accident leaves Ryan housebound and forbidden to see Sarah, their investigation takes two tracks: Ryan records everything in his journal, while Sarah uses her videocam to search things out … and then emails the clips for Ryan to see.  In a new, groundbreaking format, the story is broken into two parts -- Ryan's text in the book, and Sarah's videos on a special website, with links and passwords given throughout the book."
