Thursday Theme: Caldecott Awards

I have a great challenge for you.  It's called the Caldecott Challenge.  Remember that the Caldecott books are winners for their illustrations!  I'm taking on the challenge to do both the Caldecott and Newberry winners! I'm going to read all of the Caldecott books by year's end and then I'll start on the Newberry books.  I've read quite a few of them already.  This challenge is just for you and your kids.  Encourage them to set a goal to read so many Caldecott books by the end of the summer.  Make up a simple coupon or flyer like the following and have them fill it out and sign it!

I will read ______ Caldecott books by _____________.  Signed:

Present this in a flyer or card to your kids and see if any of them want to take on this amazing project!  The Newberry books would be a great challenge as well.  This of course would be for older kids because the books are much longer and harder, but maybe they could read a few less!  :)
